HOW TO PREPARE AN NFT COLLECTION
Welcome to the fifth chapter of the NFT creation course. In this chapter, we’re going to talk about the prep work you need to do before kicking off your NFT Project, which will be a big chunk of the work ahead. Some of the points we’ll cover can be tackled while you’re handling marketing, but that’s a call you’ll have to make yourself.
Let’s go through them and highlight the keys to getting the best results with your collection.

WHAT WE NEED TO PREPARE BEFORE OUR LAUNCH
- Lore or story:
In my view, this is the first thing you should think about. It’s the foundation everything else gets built on.
Get creative and give it a story, give a reason behind what you want to build.
- Utilities:
Decide what utilities you’re going to offer with your NFT. Think about what you can give your holders that’s actually valuable and still makes sense for you to deliver.
- Strategy:
Put down on paper the strategy you want to follow with your NFT collection, the steps you’re going to take, and how you’re going to take them. Having a planned strategy will help you stay sharp and make fewer mistakes.
- Roadmap:
This matters both for you and for the potential buyers of your NFT. You need to build a full, detailed roadmap, laying out what you want to do and when you want to do it.
- Art:
We already touched on how important the art can be in the previous chapter. Find a solid designer (it’s worth spending a bit extra), come up with an original, eye-catching concept, and take it to the top. Remember you’ll need content for social media too, not just the NFT designs themselves.
- Team:
Before going public with your Project, you’ll need a team behind you. The most critical roles, especially at the start, are Moderators and Collab Managers. Find effective people who can help you build a Community and grow your Collection.
- Whitepaper:
Write your whitepaper using everything you’ve already created. Make it engaging and dynamic; you can take inspiration from other collections. But above all, include the relevant info and the key points that set your Project apart from the rest.
- Social Media:
With all of the above done, it’s time to set up your social media. The most common and useful ones in the NFT space are Discord, Twitter, and Telegram. Remember to capture the essence of your project, keep a consistent brand image, and make your profiles/servers stand out.
- Website:
A lot of NFT collections don’t have a website, but it’s definitely an important piece that builds trust as long as it’s well executed. On top of that, it serves as a hub for delivering key info about your Project to users.

how we handle the prep
There are no set rules for this prep work. Some projects take months, others get everything ready in a couple of weeks.
It all depends on your expectations, your team, and your budget.
As for what you absolutely need ready before your first post and reaching your first users, there are no fixed rules either. The bare minimum is having your initial team, and a few pieces of art ready to share. From there you can keep working on the rest, since not everything is mandatory.
CONCLUSION
Every project is its own beast and all the processes are different. But you can take what we’ve covered as a reference. In upcoming chapters, we’ll break down in detail some of the points mentioned here.
Thanks for reading, see you in the next chapter!
