HOW TO RUN AN AIRDROP ON SOLANA
If you want to send Solana tokens to a list of wallets, this post is for you. We’ll show you how to create your own airdrop, with no coding, in just 5 minutes.
We’ll get straight into the step-by-step process, with a bit of strategy first. But if you prefer the video version on how to create your airdrop on Solana, this one is for you.
WHAT IS AN AIRDROP?
An airdrop is the act of sending a token to a list of wallets. It’s usually used for promotion.
It’s also common to use them simply as a distribution method, for example to reward NFT holders.
On Solana, they have changed the game. Airdrops like Jupiter, Marginfi, or Kamino stand out because they drove unmatched growth in activity and engagement compared with any other marketing strategy, especially in such a short time.
BENEFITS OF RUNNING AN AIRDROP ON SOLANA
Solana is packed with “Degens”. They chase opportunities aggressively, and farming an airdrop becomes a priority when the upside is attractive enough.
We can highlight the following benefits of running an airdrop on Solana:
- Fast, effective distribution
- More holders
- Potential to reach a large audience
- Easy to build a marketing campaign around it
- Unmatched viral potential
We need to be clear: running the airdrop alone will not deliver all these benefits. You still need to build a complete strategy that creates the FOMO required to make it profitable.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO CREATE AN AIRDROP ON SOLANA
Network costs, meaning transaction costs, are 0.00204 SOL if the wallet receiving the token does not already have it. If the token we send is already in the wallet receiving the token, network costs are around 0.000015 SOL.
If you can code, the only costs for making an airdrop are the network fees. If you cannot code, you will need to hire a developer or use a tool that does it for you.
In this case, we will use our Solana Airdrop tool, which costs 0.001 SOL for each wallet that will receive the airdrop. There is currently no cheaper option on Solana.

HOW TO RUN AN AIRDROP ON SOLANA, STEP BY STEP
- To get started, open the Solana Multisender tool
(https://tools.smithii.io/token-multisender/solana) - Connect your wallet to the website
- Select the token you want to use for the Airdrop
- Set the number of tokens you want to send to each wallet
- Add the wallet addresses that will receive the Airdrop. You can also upload a csv with the full list to save time

The airdrop will start and run in just a few seconds. You can track the transactions as they execute in your wallet.

AIRDROP ALTERNATIVE ON SOLANA: BUILD A CLAIM SITE
Airdrops are widely used to distribute tokens to a community, but there are cheaper, more efficient options, such as creating a Claim Site on Solana.
Instead of sending tokens directly to users’ wallets, which can drive up transaction costs, a claim site lets users claim their tokens on a dedicated platform, covering the gas cost themselves when they make the transaction.
This not only lowers costs for the project, but also gives you more control over distribution and claim timing.
