Differences between Pumpfun and PumpSwap: Key points to understand them
If you are starting in the world of meme coins, it is completely normalto frequently confuse Pumpfun and PumpSwap. But there is nothing to worry about because here we will explain what thedifferences between Pumpfun and PumpSwap are(and how to take advantage of each one).
Before continuing, we advise you to check our blog since you will find very useful information on Smithii, as well aspowerful tools to launch your project on Solanaor other blockchains. Keep reading!
Pumpfun Vs PumpSwap: What are their differences?
The first thing we want to do is clear up any doubts. There are many differences between Pump.fun and PumpSwap, but both are platforms created by the same team of developers. This is why you might confuse them, especially when you don’t know much about either.
Anyway, the following table contains all the summarized differences, and we delve into each one later.
| Topic | Pumpfun | PumpSwap |
|---|---|---|
| What is it? | Meme coin launchpad on Solana | Decentralized Exchange (DEX) created by Pump.fun |
| What is it for? | List, buy, and sell meme coins on the Solana network | Exchange tokens and meme coins freely and without restrictions on Solana |
| Network | Solana | Solana |
| Creator rewards | 0.3% in fees by volume | 0%, between 0.05% and 0.95% for Pump.fun graduated tokens |
| Launch date | January 2024 | March 2025 |
| Listing | Only requires one token (no need to create a liquidity pool) | It is necessary to add liquidity and select the pair |
| Pricing model | Bonding curve | Automated Market Maker (AMM) |
| Future utility | List and advertise meme coins | Trading with other assets, Staking, integration with other DeFi, Decentralized Governance |
What is Pump Fun?
Pump Fun is themost popular decentralized meme coin launchpad of Solanaand there are thousands of projects that have started (and ended) on this portal. In short, you can list a meme coin so that others can see the project and decide to buy the amount of tokens they want.
The advantage of Pump.fun is that, unlikecreating a meme coin in Solana from scratch, you don’t need to launch a liquidity poolfor others to buy your meme coin. Instead, Pump Fun locks an initial liquidity provided by themselves. However, you cannot manage that liquidity in any way.

What is PumpSwap?
Pump Swap is a DEXcreated by the same team as Pump.fun. Here you can exchange all types of tokens, as well as create liquidity pools. Comparatively, its purpose is the same as Raydium, the largest DEX on Solana or Jupiter, another very famous andincreasingly used DEX.
The PumpSwap platform was launched at the end of March 2025, but its numbers are very impressiveand it is quickly gaining groundover other decentralized exchanges.

Comparison between Pumpfun and PumpSwap
Having clarified the above, let’s compare both platforms andwhat are the characteristics that differentiate one from the other. Let’s get started.
What is it for?
As we mentioned at the beginning, althoughPumpFun and PumpSwap are created by the same team, their utility is radically different. The last one mentioned is a DEX that allows the exchange of tokens on Solana of all types, create or add liquidity and its integration in other DeFi and Dapps is specified, although we will talk about that later.
Pump Fun
Exclusively for listing, buying, and selling meme coins on Solana. Among our tools you can find thebundler of Pump.fun.
PumpSwap
Exchange tokens and meme coinson Solana without restrictions, and tocreate a liquidity poolto obtain benefits as an LP Provider.

How to list?
The way Pump Fun and PumpSwap allow you to list a token are slightly different. While in Pump.fun you only need to create the meme coin, in PumpSwap you need two things:
- The Base Token (it can be one you created using theSolana Token Creator)
- The Quote Token (a stablecoin or SOL)
Pump Fun
By creating a meme coin, no need to add liquidity.
PumpSwap
By graduating a token from Pump.fun, creating a liquidity pool, or adding liquidity to an existing pair.
Rewards
(Update) With the announcement of Project Ascend,Pump.fun and Pumpswap have revolutionized their reward systems for creators.
Now, tokens in Pump.fun, provide a 0.3% fee to developers(it used to be 0.05%). On the other hand, tokens graduated from Pumpfun and traded on PumpSwap offer between 0.05% and0.95% of the volume, depending on the market cap (if you want to know more, we have an article explaining theProject Ascend).
By creating an LP in Pumpswap, you can set a 0.25% fee, butyou don’t have creator rewards for the token.
Pump Fun
As of September 3, 2025, creator fees rise to0.3% in SOL per transaction.
PumpSwap
Pump.fun graduated tokens grant from 0.05% to 0.95% in fees to the creator. You can alsoset a 0.25% fee as an LP Provider.

Pricing model
By comparing Pump.fun and PumpSwap we understand that the former operates based on abonding curve, while the latter applies anAMM protocol. This is how the price of each token is defined based on supply and demand.
Pump Fun
Bonding curve, the price increases when more is bought or decreases when sold (benefits earlier buyers more)
PumpSwap
Automated Market Maker, protocol for automatic exchange through liquidity pools.
Future projection
At this point, we refer to thepossible implementations it may have in the future, expanding usability and offering greater exposure to users. While Pump.fun is a launchpad for meme coins and nothing else, no other uses have been announced for its platform.
Contrary to this,PumpSwap is a DEX that can offer many features, such as staking, a more complex trading platform, integrating its use into other DeFi… among others.
Pump Fun
No plans to integrate other uses or DeFi
PumpSwap
Staking, trading, integration into other DeFi, Dapps with its AMM, governance token, bridge or expansion to other blockchains
Conclusion
The differences between Pump Fun and PumpSwap are very marked, butboth are platforms that complement each other. In short, Pump.fun is a launchpad for meme coins, while PumpSwap is a DEX, but both correlate through thetoken graduation.
