What is Pump Fun?
Pump Fun is the most popular decentralized meme coin launchpad on Solana, with thousands of projects having launched (and concluded) on this platform. Essentially, you can list a meme coin, allowing others to discover the project and acquire the desired number of tokens.
The advantage of Pump.fun that, unlike creating a meme coin Solana scratch, you don’t need to launch a liquidity pool for others to buy your meme coin. Instead, Pump Fun an initial amount of liquidity provided by the platform itself. However, you won’t be able to manage that liquidity in any way.

What is PumpSwap?
Pump Swap is a DEX developed by the same team behind Pump.fun. It facilitates the exchange of various tokens and the creation of liquidity pools. Comparatively, its function mirrors that of Raydium, Solana's largest DEX, or Jupiter, another highly recognized and increasingly adopted DEX.
PumpSwap's platform was launched at the end of March 2025, but its numbers are very impressive and it is quickly gaining ground on other decentralized exchanges.

Having clarified the above, let's compare both platforms and what are the features that differentiate one from the other. Let's start then.
What is it for?
As we mentioned at the beginning, although PumpFun and PumpSwap are created by the same team, their utility is radically different. The last mentioned is a DEX that allows the exchange of tokens in Solana of all kinds, create or add liquidity and its integration with other DeFi and Dapps is required, although we will talk about that later.

The process for listing a token on Pump Fun PumpSwap token slightly different. While on Pump.fun you Pump.fun need to create the meme coin, on PumpSwap you need two things:
- The Base Token this could be one you created using the Solana Token )

PumpSwap
Graduating a token from Pump.fun, creating a liquidity pool, or adding liquidity to an existing pair.
Rewards
(Update) With the announcement of Project Ascend, Pump.fun and Pumpswap have revolutionized their reward systems for creators.
Now, tokens on Pump.fun provide 0.3% fees for devs (previously 0.05%). On the other hand, tokens graduated from Pumpfun and traded on PumpSwap offer between 0.05% and 0.95% of the volume, depending on the market cap (if you want to know more, we have an article explaining Project Ascend).

When comparing Pump.fun PumpSwap, we see that the former operates based on a bonding curve, while the latter uses an AMM protocol. This is how the price of each token is determined token on supply and demand.
Pump Fun
Bonding curve, the price increases when the currency is bought more or decreases when it is sold (benefits more the first buyers).
PumpSwap
Automated Market Maker, protocol for automatic exchange through liquidity pools.
Future projection
At this point we refer to the possible implementations it may have in the future, expanding usability and offering greater exposure to users. While Pump.fun is a launchpad for meme coins and nothing more, no other uses for its platform have been announced.
Contrary to this, PumpSwap is a DEX that can offer many features, such as staking, a more complex platform for trading, integrating its use in other DeFi... among others.
Pump Fun
No plans to integrate other uses or DeFi
PumpSwap
Staking, trading, integration with other DeFi platforms, DApps using its AMM, token , bridge, or expansion to other blockchains
Conclusion
The differences between Pump Fun and PumpSwap are very marked, but both are platforms that complement each other. Simply put, Pump.fun is a meme coin launchpad , while PumpSwap is a DEX, but both are correlated through token grading.
