Memecoin Wars: Where to Find Memecoin Data Across Every Chain
One of the latest on-chain crazes has been launchpads. Once Pons launched on Robinhood, a flood of new platforms rushed in trying to copy that playbook.
At one point, Pons and Stonk combined made up 75% of all on-chain launchpad revenue:
With new launchpads popping up left and right, people went back to the usual drill: figuring out where the volume actually was.
For that, there’s a really solid (now retired) Dune dashboard from @adam_tehc, a user who’s great at what he does. You can also find him on Twitter.
The problem is he decided to shut the Dune dashboard down, so we only have data up to September 22.
So, seeing that a lot of project launchers were watching closely to figure out where to drop their next idea and were stressing about picking the right launchpad, I decided to put together an updated version.
On the Smithii Tools page itself, you can check out the new version of memecoin wars, which contains all of Adam’s info plus some extras of our own that we think will be useful for anyone launching a project.
The launchpad frenzy isn’t slowing down, and having a reliable data source for it is a must if you want to know when and where to launch your project.
If my project is good, does it matter where I launch?
I’d love to live in a world where that were true. But the reality is that timing on a good project (and in life) is 50% of the whole thing.
There are thousands of great projects on Blast, but the chain itself dragged them down the day it got shut off.
On-chain timing is everything because:
- Being in a strong ecosystem gives people the sense that liquidity rotation will eventually reach your project
- Almost everyone has a preferred launchpad or chain, and having to bridge somewhere else is a huuuge friction point. So launching where the liquidity already is tends to be the smart move
- Selling is almost as important as having a good product. Once you’ve got attention, that’s when you can actually sell your great product
so where should I launch my project?
Ideally, you want to launch where there’s the most volume and where it still looks like it’s growing day by day. Picking the right launchpad also opens the door to KOLs from that platform, who’ll be more interested in showcasing a token from their own platform than from someone else’s.
Now, if you want a general rule, here it is:
- If it’s a pure memecoin and you have no clue where to start, go with Pump.fun. Long-term, it’s the one with the most volume.
- If you’re pairing a memecoin with a stock, you’ve got two options: Long on Robin Hood and Stonk on Solana. Stonk has considerably more volume. If you go with Stonk, here’s how to launch on Stonk step by step.
- If you’re launching a 100% RWA project, the launchpad options on Base are solid picks, and Heaven on Solana is also a good alternative since it runs a fairlaunch.
If what you’re after is launching an IPO-style project, that’s outside the scope of this dashboard and article, but what you’re looking for is MetaDAO.
If you have any questions about launching, hit me up on Twitter and we’ll figure it out together!
