How to do an Airdrop on Ethereum step by step
In this article I’ll walk you through how to do an airdrop on Ethereum with ERC20 tokens using a Smithii dApp, the Ethereum Multisender. The goal is to let you distribute your token to multiple wallets easily, quickly, safely, and cheaply, with zero technical knowledge required to use the tool.
Running an airdrop is one of the best marketing moves you can pull off with your token, and it can be highly profitable for the project when executed properly.
I’ll drop a video below showing the Multisender in action for ERC20, but stick around and read the full guide to learn more about this no-code tool.
The only things you need to use the multisender are your wallet holding the token you want to distribute, and the recipient addresses:

How to do an airdrop on Ethereum with the Smithii Multisender
The first thing to do is open the Smithii Airdrop Tool in any browser. Once there, connect your wallet that’s compatible with the Ethereum network (like Metamask, but you can also use one of its alternatives) and you’re ready to use this dApp. You’ll see something like the screen below, then just follow these steps:

- Select the token you’ll be sending (it has to be in the wallet you connected).
- Set the amount of tokens each wallet will receive.
- Manually enter each wallet address or upload a CSV file with the recipient wallets.
- Click Start Airdrop and approve the transaction.
- Wait a few seconds for your airdrop to complete.
That’s it. You’ve just run an airdrop of ERC20 tokens on your own, no headaches.
How much does it cost to run an airdrop with Ethereum Multisender?
To use the multisender dApp for Ethereum, you’ll need funds on top of the token supply you want to distribute at scale. The cost is 0.0001 $ETH per wallet you’re sending an airdrop to.
Things to keep in mind for your airdrop on Ethereum
Ethereum is a mature blockchain and the one with the most active users in terms of digital asset supply and demand, very attractive by the way, and it keeps pulling in a growing number of “degens” hunting opportunities wherever they can. For them, farming an airdrop is a top priority if it’s juicy enough.
We can highlight the following benefits of distributing tokens with ETH Multisender:
- Fast and effective distribution
- More holders for your token
- Massive reach potential
- Easy to build a marketing campaign around
- Unmatched virality
Keep in mind that just running an airdrop with ETH Multisender won’t unlock all these benefits by itself. You need to build a full strategy that generates the FOMO you need to make it profitable. If you have a meme coin, check out our guide to promoting meme coins.
How does the Ethereum Multisender Smart Contract work?
To sum it up, when we talk about ERC20 Multisender Smart Contract we’re talking about sending ERC20 tokens to multiple wallets at the same time in a single transaction. It’s mainly used to promote a new token or reward community members, on top of the reasons we covered earlier.
The token standard on Ethereum is ERC20. Every action requires interaction at the smart contract level, so running an airdrop on Ethereum would normally require coding knowledge to pull off. That action is the multi-send of tokens, aka Multisend.
That smart contract-level interaction runs transactions simultaneously, transferring tokens from one wallet to multiple recipient wallets. Tools like ours make this job easy with an interactive, user-friendly interface.
Is it safe to do airdrops with Ethereum Multisender?
As we said, Ethereum Multisender handles the smart contract-level work for you and gives you a simple, easy-to-use interface. As you’ll notice in the permission transactions, you’re never asked for access to any of your assets. The safety of using it for your airdrops is easy to verify.
At Smithii we’ve been offering specialized dApps for multiple blockchains since late 2022, and we currently hold audits from CoinFabrik and Halborn.

Are Ethereum Multisender, ERC20 Airdrop Tool and Ethereum Bulksender the same thing?
Yes, all three refer to the same tool and are just different naming variants. Either way, the tool we showed above lets you do a bulk send of ERC20 tokens or Ethereum-compatible tokens to any wallets you choose. If you want to know how to extract token holders from Ethereum tokens, we cover the Snapshot in another guide.
Final thoughts on how to do an airdrop on Ethereum
Running an Airdrop on Ethereum is a great way to bring users to your project, as long as it’s executed the right way.
And even more so when you can run your airdrop easily and effectively with a tool like Ethereum Multisender.
Take your time to nail down your strategy and run sharp, differentiated marketing. It’ll be worth it and you’ll see results.
