How to add logo and update information of a ERC20 Token
If you have created a ERC20 token, you will probably want to add an image/logo and social media links, among other information that you can edit. This way you will make your token identifiable and more attractive to investors.
You must have what you are going to need:
- Access to the wallet with which the token was created ERC20.
- Contract address of the token whose information is to be edited.
- Login to the lock explorer where the token is hosted, in this case etherscan.io.
- Perform the "Exact Match Verified" of the token's contract address in the lock explorer.
- Complete the "Verify Address Ownership" token.
- Complete the official form to personalize the token data.
If you still don't have your ERC20 token and you are thinking of creating one, here is a guide on how to generate it in the easiest way possible.
Step 1: Perform "Exact Match Verified" on ETHerscan.io
Go to the etherscan.io website and with the wallet that has the ownership of the token, i.e. the one used to create the token, insert the contract address of the token in the browser at the top, to go to the token page view.
Complete the "sign in" and/or "login" in the lock explorer, you will find the access at the top right.
Once on the token page, navigate to the transfers section and look for the "Contract" tab. Click on "Verify and Publish" and complete the steps prompted by the lock explorer. To avoid mistakes, follow this etherscan guide.
A verified token will look as follows:
Step 2: Complete "Verify Address Ownership" on ETHerscan.io
Having logged in, go to your user profile section at the top right and in the dropdown go to the "My Verified Address" section. A view will appear as shown below where you can verify the ownership of the token by clicking on "Add Address".
Follow the steps requested by the lock explorer, when the option to "Sign Message Manually" or "Connect to Web3" appears, choose the second one and connect the wallet with which the token was created. Continue approving some transactions and finish the process in a few more steps in an intuitive and simple way.
The information you want to add will be audited by the etherscan.io support team, and you will even be able to update existing information, subject to approval.
Step 3 (final): Add image/logo and social media links to a ERC20 token.
To add logo to your ERC20 token you must have completed the "Exact Match Verified" and "Verify Ownership" processes.
A token with image/logo and links looks like this in the browser:
The way to change the logo of an ERC20 token, as well as social networks, has changed for some time now. Now, you need to fill out a form to request the changes you want to make to your token on etherscan.io. We summarize the guidelines for uploading your own token info in ethescan below:
- Enter the contract address: in the etherscan form, this will start a short verification process with your wallet (remember to complete the previous two steps).
- Add the logo you want on your ERC20 token and other data: as for the image, it must have a PNG format and a resolution of 32×32.
- In case of adding a page, avoid this: use exaggerated descriptions (such as "the best token, the most stable...").

Conclusions about adding a logo and links to a token of Ethereum
Adding a logo is vital to increase the credibility of your token, as it will be displayed when a user imports it to their wallet or interacts with the liquidity pool in a decentralized exchange such as Uniswap. In addition, including an image on your token adds to the identity of your token and your project in general, adding branding and awareness of its existence.
On the other hand, inserting links to social media or other sources of information makes it easier for investors to research your token, providing transparency and persuasive elements to buy it.
