What Is the Solana Explorer?

Solana Explorer is the official block explorer for the Solana network, maintained by the Solana Foundation. It lets anyone look up transactions, accounts, blocks, validators, and programs on Solana’s mainnet, devnet, and testnet without requiring any account or login.

What You Can Do on Solana Explorer

You can look up a transaction by pasting its hash (TXID) into the search bar and see the full details: whether it succeeded or failed, the fee paid, the accounts involved, the instructions executed, and the slot it was included in. You can also search for a wallet address to view its current token balances, NFTs, and transaction history. Programs (smart contracts) can be looked up by their program ID to see their on-chain bytecode and recent transactions.

Solana Explorer vs. Other Block Explorers

Solana Explorer is the official reference implementation, but it is not the only option. SolanaFM and Solscan are third-party explorers with more user-friendly interfaces, enhanced token data, and additional analytics like DeFi protocol integrations, wallet labeling, and richer NFT display. For everyday transaction lookups, any of the three works well. For deeper research, the third-party explorers often provide more context.

How to Use Solana Explorer

Go to explorer.solana.com and paste a transaction hash, wallet address, or program ID into the search bar. Use the cluster selector in the top right to switch between mainnet-beta, devnet, and testnet. Transaction data is displayed in real time, with decoded instruction details when the program’s IDL is available.
